Lydia's Story ~ in her own words

I am Lydia Byrd and I am 7 years old.

When I was 5 years old my mom and dad found out that I had a brain tumor on my first MRI.
They had to put me to sleep. The MRI was all done my mom and dad said, "Can you get it out ?".
"No, we can't get it out, but she will get an MRI every 3 months".

I got 31 radiation treatments.

After that we went to Disney World.
It was fun! It put a big happy face on me!
I loved it! There were big heads that I was afraid of .
But, I broke that fear!

When we got home I went in my room and put my biggest happy face on me.
I loved it there mom.

My favorite Bible verse is :

"I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go.''
 Genesis 28:15

They made a sign that said "Love for Lydia".

Here is another Bible verse that is my favorite too!

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."
Proverbs 3:5-6

  3. Hi Lydia,
I saw your link to your blog through Beth Moore's Siestavilla blog :) I just read through your family's beautiful story and am just so amazed by God's grace in your life. My prayer is that God would continue to be His Truth and Light to you. Your faith and you hope in Him is so strong and event. You are beaming *hope* in the words you've penned on this blog. I pray that a 9 month diagnosis would turn into a 90 YEAR diagnosis and that Lydia's life would be a beacon of hope to all those around her. May God perform a miracle in your lives and continue to bless your family for centuries to come! In His Love, Cindy Childers

  5. It really makes sense when reading this that we are supposed to have "faith like a child". The faith that Lydia has is so beautiful.

  9. This blog was shared with me and others on another site. I was warned it was emotional, but I cant even read it all as I sit here in tears. I have 3 children Michael (16), Paige (13), and KaytLynn (2). I have no words to express what your story has done to me. All I know is I have this extreme need to go to Church and just reach out like I have never in the past, this need to let go of the restraint I have had in believing...
